My boiler is making banging noises. Is that serious?

How often should a boiler be serviced?

What pressure should my boiler show?
Most residential hydronic systems read between 12 and 20 psi when cool. If the pressure keeps dropping after you top it up, water is escaping somewhere and should be found before heating season.
